Personally, I have always been dubious about review sites, not because I think they are a bad idea, more that the use of technology can encourage some (rogue) companies to engage in adding; fake reviews, rewards for reviews and copy/pasting. I refer to them as ‘rogue companies’ for the simple reason, if a product or service is ’fit for purpose’, manipulated reviews would not be necessary.

For the purpose of this thread I am calling out the legitimacy of the 17 and a half thousand plus 17,500 reviews on Trustpilot for the casino Mystake.com - there are so many obviously copy/paste reviews, along with many who say they have been offered rewards for positive reviews! The sheer number of reviews and content integrity is highly questionable.

I have an ongoing complaint with Trustpilot regarding Mystake.com and continue to send examples of inconsistencies.

I am relentless in my approach and like a Good Ninja, I never Quit! 😉

I think this is definitely a question for the players. However, as far as user reviews are concerned, I would just like to say that we are careful about such things and it is strictly against our rules when players come to write a user review for a reward in the form of a bonus. Nevertheless, I would also say that every player has the ability and his own mind and can distinguish if something seems very suspicious to him. So I'm quite curious what kind of answers you'll get.

In this case, as I said, everyone can make a picture of which user reviews are honest and unbiased and which are not. I think that should be the goal of all user reviews, so that players can help each other with their experiences, but this is also one of the cases where it is not so much. And since we also encounter such cases, I know what I'm talking about.

Jaro please, do you really know what you are talking about!?!

It absolutely should NOT be left to user discretion to figure out ‘which user reviews are honest and unbiased and which are notthat is really not helpful at all!

Deceptive reviews do not provide objective information about a product.

A fake review will appear to have been written by a genuine customer but, unlike real reviews, they are paid for by the manufacturer or trader to boost ratings and rankings on sellers’ websites – which in turn boosts sales. In some cases companies give away goods or refund purchases in return for glowing reviews. But these practices are illegal under consumer protection law.

MYSTAKE seem to be so confident they will not face legal action they do it in plain view, what will it take to stop them one wonders?!

NB: I’m not going to lie, I was secretly happy to see MYSTAKE blacklisted on a review site today!

What do you need to do if you are a business whose products are being reviewed?

  • Don’t pretend to be a customer and write reviews about your products or other businesses’ products
  • Don’t commission third parties to write fake reviews – you may be liable for their actions
  • If you are working with a third party – such as a PR, marketing or Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) agency – make sure they also follow these rules
  • Don’t offer inducements – money or gifts – to customers to write positive reviews about your business

If reviews you write or commission mislead consumers, you may be breaking the law.

Yes you're absolutely right, it shouldn't be left up to the users which user reviews are honest and unbiased, I just meant that it's mostly visible, especially if it's a user review like the screenshot you sent. So basically, I agree with your opinion, but maybe I expressed myself in the wrong way.

Hmm I see they don't seem to mind writing the same text anymore, so good job with your investigation. I also see that the casino was blacklisted on the review site. I see you're not missing anything. On what site did this happen if I may know ?

12 måneder siden

Different titles, same content, would that make a difference in identifying copy and paste reviews?, I wonder 🤷‍♀️

Here’s a scenario to ponder:

A casino is questioned about manipulating reviews, their defence is to then blame the reviewer. My question, who should be held responsible?

  • the user who added the review
  • the casino operator

FAO: Jaro: On what site did this happen if I may know ?

Mystake.com - Blacklisted

Bettingnet.com

Playersbest.com

Mystake.com - Not recommended

ThePOGG.com

Mystake.com - Warning*

Casinomeister.com

*WARNING: Mystake is fast on accepting player deposits but seems "unavailable" for pretty much anything else. Players are strongly advised to look elsewhere for their online gaming services.

Thank you for answering me and providing further useful information. I think we have another Sherlock Holmes here. I know you are a stickler for information, so if something new comes up, please let us know again.

As part of a look at reviews on Trustpilot my biggest complaint concerns the disproportionate positive reviews for MYSTAKE.com.

In my opinion, the screenshots below indicate a highly irregular practice for promoting reviews.

I have sent this to some policy-makers for vetting (confidential)

Thanks for this post, I see that apparently not many user reviews will be honest if a casino offers 100 free spins for a good review.

Anyway, I'm curious what the policy makers will tell you. Give an update then. 🙂

Furthermore, it brings into question the integrity of the operator!
