I juni 2022 aktiverede jeg en toårig selvudelukkelse på min OlyBet-konto (18.06.2022-18.06.2024). Mens denne udelukkelse var aktiv, kontaktede jeg OlyBet support den 4. november 2022, forklarede, at jeg havde et spilleproblem, og anmodede om en permanent lukning af min konto.
Deres svar?
En generisk besked: "Log ind og gør det selv."
Dette var umuligt, fordi min konto allerede var selvudelukket, og selvom jeg kunne have logget ind, ville den eneste mulighed have været at forlænge udelukkelsen, ikke at anmode om en permanent lukning.
Senere bekræftede deres support (chat med Līga), at en permanent lukning kræver manuel handling fra deres Responsible Gaming-team – noget en spiller ikke kan gøre alene. Min anmodning burde have været eskaleret til dette team med det samme, men den blev ignoreret.
Da min udelukkelse ophørte i juni 2024, genåbnede OlyBet min konto, selvom de kendte til mit spilleproblem og min anmodning om lukning. Jeg genoptog spillet, og ifølge deres egne data tabte jeg €8.283,67.
Jeg prøvede at søge retfærdighed:
- Det estiske skatte- og toldvæsen (EMTA) indrømmede, at operatører forventes at lukke konti efter anmodning på grund af spilleproblemer, men metoden er op til operatøren.
- Da jeg påviste, at OlyBets metode havde fejlet, nægtede EMTA at genoptage undersøgelsen.
- Den estiske justitskansler sagde, at EMTA har bred skønsbeføjelse og bad mig gå til retten.
- ADR afviste min klage, da de misforstod, at jeg allerede havde udelukket mig selv, og bad om en stærkere, permanent blokering.
- OlyBets sidste forsvar: "Der findes ingen permanent lukning i henhold til estisk lov," selvom deres egen support indrømmer, at de har en intern proces for permanente blokeringer.
Til sidst skrev OlyBet:
"Vi beklager oprigtigt, at processen ikke gav det beskyttelsesniveau, du forventede, eller som vi sigter mod at tilbyde i dag."
Men deres endelige beslutning:
"Der kan ikke ydes nogen kompensation eller velvilje i denne sag."
Konklusion:
OlyBet ignorerede en direkte bøn om hjælp, gav en umulig instruktion, genåbnede min konto og gemte sig bag juridiske teknikaliteter – og tilsynsmyndighederne lod dem. Hvis du fortæller OlyBet, at du har et spilleproblem, skal du ikke forvente nogen meningsfuld hjælp. Pas på derude.
Som spiller kan jeg kun drage denne konklusion:
Hvis du fortæller OlyBet, at du har et spilleproblem, vil de stort set ikke gøre noget. Etisk ansvarlighed synes ikke at tynge dem tungt.

I want to share my experience with OlyBet as a warning to others and to show how the Estonian regulatory system can fail players who ask for help.
In June 2022, I activated a two-year self-exclusion on my OlyBet account (18.06.2022–18.06.2024). While this exclusion was active, on November 4, 2022, I contacted OlyBet support, explained that I had a gambling problem, and requested a permanent closure of my account.
Their response?
A generic message: "Log in and do it yourself."
This was impossible, because my account was already self-excluded and even if I could have logged in, the only option would have been to extend the exclusion, not to request a permanent closure.
Later, their support (chat with Līga) confirmed that a permanent closure requires manual action from their Responsible Gaming team – something a player cannot do alone. My request should have been escalated to this team immediately, but it was ignored.
When my exclusion ended in June 2024, OlyBet reopened my account, even though they knew about my gambling problem and my request for closure. I resumed playing and, according to their own data, lost €8,283.67.
I tried to seek justice:
- The Estonian Tax and Customs Board (EMTA) admitted that operators are expected to close accounts upon request for gambling problems, but the method is up to the operator.
- When I demonstrated that OlyBet’s method had failed, EMTA refused to re-investigate.
- The Estonian Chancellor of Justice said EMTA has broad discretion and told me to go to court.
- ADR's rejected my complaint, misunderstanding that I had already self-excluded and was asking for a stronger, permanent block.
- OlyBet’s final defense: "No permanent closure exists under Estonian law," even though their own support admits they have an internal process for permanent blocks.
Eventually, OlyBet wrote:
"We genuinely regret that the process did not provide the level of protection you expected or that we aim to offer today."
But their final decision:
"No compensation or goodwill gesture can be granted for this matter."
Bottom line:
OlyBet ignored a direct plea for help, gave an impossible instruction, reopened my account, and hid behind legal technicalities – and the regulators let them. If you tell OlyBet you have a gambling problem, don’t expect any meaningful help. Be careful out there.
As a player, the only conclusion I can draw is this:
If you tell OlyBet you have a gambling problem, they will do practically nothing. Ethical responsibility doesn’t seem to weigh heavily on them.
