It is not a matter of what if fair and unfair.

It is a matter of what is legal and illegal!!

It is illegal for ANY website to miscode VISA/MASTERCARD transactions. They do these to for several reasons. To get around gambling blocks that people have put on their bank accounts, to make it appear to that the payments do not involve a high risk listed business (gambling) and to pay less money to the card companies as it isn't a high risk company they are putting their payments through.

As for saying that is is a no risk game for the person playing catch yourself on. These unscrupulous casinos are "targeting" known disordered gamblers and are nothing better that drug dealers. The deposits they take are taken illegally and of course they should be forced to pay them back and shut down. Any casino miscoding transactions can't go crying to Casino Guru when they get charged back and similarly you can't have a go at the customer for doing so as after all it is the casino breaking the law!!

"I realise you are always going to defend the casinos but defending these illegal practices is disgusting.

Once you lose, you just claim all deposits back. In that case, you could only win, but you'd actually never lose your deposits. I guess you clearly understand that if casinos tolerated this, they'd be all shut down pretty soon."

Maybe if more people that did this (charged back miscoded transactions) then the casinos would realise it wasn't worth it and stop their illegal practices. If they continue to operate illegally they should be shut down should they not?

I did say you'd be wasting your time trying to explain the seriousness of the matter to Casino Guru. They are not going to agree with anything that will hurt their affiliate payments.

Their ignorance and attitude of/to disordered gambling is disgusting.

It's always the customers responsibility but NEVER the casinos responsibility in their eyes.

Perhaps Casino Guru would explain why they believe its Ok for ANY casino to actively target known disordered gamblers?

"Whether the casino hides payments etc. isn't my concern."

And therein lies the problem.

At Casino Guru you aren't concerned if a casino is actively targeting known disordered gamblers and using illegal practices to accept payments from them. This in effect makes you complicit in their practices as not only do you refuse to condone them you also admit to not caring if they do it!!

Thank you for confirming Casino Gurus position on casinos illegally miscoding Visa/MasterCard payments for all to see.

Whether the casino hides payments etc. isn't my concern. 😐

Q: Are you serious?

They don't hide it before the player, since the player knows they played in a casino and made a deposit / withdrawal there.

Q: How does this justify what they do?

They hide it from banks since they probably know the casino and the player could have potential issues related to the nature of the payments.

Q: What potential issues?

If you don't want to experience this, then simply don't play in unlicensed casinos in the UK and you'll be fine!

For a Casino Guru author to be making a statement such as the above, I am 💯 confused why Casino Guru would be funding the Global Self-Exclusion Initiative!

Their mask has slipped revealing their true colours as casino affiliates.

After raising concerns about my deposits showing a descriptor of the actual company We*ops Ltd full identity hidden in case it breaches CG rules (a company I have never heard of, let alone purchased anything from), I challenged Velobet Casino and after a lot of email exchanges they agreed to refund me all my deposits amounting to over £580 - I have received all monies! 😀

Just putting this out there!

The casino will just see this £580 as a small cost of business payment. For every person they refund their deposits to 99 others won't ever bother to request them.

Well done on getting your illegally processed payments back.

I am researching deeper into this whole issue and let me say it’s proving very interesting! Yes, what I had back is a drop in the ocean to them but as they say here in ‘Old Blighty’

‘there is more than one way to skin a cat’ 😉

Hiding payments doesn't automatically imply that you actively target disordered gamblers. That's your explanation and I disagree with it. It doesn't automatically mean that whenever you're a UK player playing in a casino licensed outside of the UK, you must be addicted to gambling.

It is not a matter of what if fair and unfair. It is a matter of what is legal and illegal!!

Then you're discussing it with a wrong person here, because when it comes to legality, we know there are rules we need to obey as affiliates so we obey them. But don't expect from me to tell the casinos how they should behave when it comes to legality. It's their business decision and it's possible they'll pay for it.

No matter if they're legal or illegal, my main concern is whether they treat all the players fairly.

Turning a blind eye makes you complicit, you have been advised these casinos in question are acting illegally yet you are happy to close off complaints as unfair??!

I will now review Casino Guru on Trustpilot and any other review site I can find.

You simply cannot enable these unscrupulous casinos (which is what I foolishly understood you were here to prevent) and if you are ‘obeying’ the rules please do share your rules with us as we are getting nowhere with you here!

That's the point! Global Self-Exclusion Initiative hasn't much to to do with casinos legality. If there's a player having gambling issues who's let's say blocked on GAMSTOP, then the possibility of playing in casinos outside GAMSTOP is very dangerous for such a vulnerable player. There should be a tool that can protect all the players who need it. No matter where they come from, no matter if they play in legal, illegal casinos - in some countries, they still don't have their own gambling law so there's not even such a thing as legal or illegal casinos.

So my concern is: when you have gambling issues, there should be a way to protect you globally (no matter the licenses, country of residence, local law etc.). When you don't have gambling issues, play anywhere you want to play, spend your money wherever you wish, just play in casinos that treat you fairly. Those who don't treat you fairly should be punished.

Whether the casinos operate in accordance with your local gambling law isn't my business. That's a relationship between your government and the casinos. I'm here to protect the player, not the local government's interest. I know there are fair casinos that aren't licensed in certain countries and I know bad casinos that are legal in certain countries. I'm not afraid to say that when I look at the current situation in Germany, it's definitely better (more fair) for all Germans to play in casinos that aren't licensed in Germany = they operate there illegally. When they choose a fair casino outside the German jurisdiction, their experience will be generally better.

As I said you are complicit because you have been advised on so many occasions- it’s beyond me how you can ignore the ‘players’ you are supposed to protect and turn it into a political thing - stop burying your head in the sand and bring fair casinos to the forefront and stop enabling the likes of FRESHBET who have an extremely high number of questionable positive reviews ?!

I have given enough time, effort and energy to get these rogue casinos to refund me, bravo to those that have but to the rest I am now going for ‘chargebacks’ with all my evidence in hand to show what lengths I have gone to in order to get back what’s mine.

Thanks for all the chat and no action - it has helped open my eyes further!

"No matter if they're legal or illegal, my main concern is whether they treat all the players fairly."

If something is illegal it is surely unfair is it not?

As previously stated it is quite apparent you are more than happy to ignore illegal practices from casinos (you have even stated this) to protect your affiliate income. Again as stated previously this makes you complicit in their illegality.

I know who they are. You should be able to get all of your deposits back via chargebacks without the need for their services.

Yes I am going for chargebacks but I am putting it out there for others who may benefit, as per my proverb yesterday ’there is more than one way to skin a cat’ 😂 😉 thanks for your support 🙏

No. Illegal and unfair are two different things, but I already explained it here numerous time.
