Question about Gambling websites with Curaçao license using incorrect Merchant Category code (side 881)

Attempting fraud or misrepresenting the truth to a bank or provider is never a good idea and could have lasting consequences. So here’s our friendly appeal to all Casino Guru community members: Stand up against unfair and dishonest casinos. Use our Complaints Resolution Center if you need help – you don’t have to fight alone. But please don’t try to get back money you’ve fairly lost. It’s simply not worth the risk. Has anyone had there bank immediately closed with no warning? I'm terribly stressed and in a really dark place ... I'd complained to my bank for not reaching out or helping when I was showing clear signs of gambling related harm. I also requested chargebacks and information on merchants. I have out of the blue recieved a txt to say my account is closed. Its my only bank account. I need access to it for bills and wages ect. Please can anyone advise??

Just checked, the bank should give you 2 months notice to open an account elsewhere and transfer your funds. Just open a revolut account for now

Under Mastercards own rules gambling transactions must be coded as 7995. Someone had asked them on x "when is a payments classed as gambling and what code should be used" and 7995 was the response.


whilst they don’t refund gambling payments if the code 7995 was not used then they can’t then classify it as gambling as they are using your honesty and integrity against you.


I sometimes wonder if the adjudicators at the FOS actually have financial knowledge and background.

Yeah, that was the actual Ombudsmans response.


What's even worse, I quoted one of his own findings at him, where he quoted directly that chargebacks were available if the 'casino' broke their terms/contract, then completely ignored it.


Also completely disregarded that I had succesful chargebacks on Mastercard with a different bank before and therefore there was a good chance of these succeeding.


I think until we can get Mastercard to acknowledge what's going on and allow these chargebacks, we're on a hiding to nothing. We've been scammed/defrauded by these sites and deserve protection from such.
